Our History

The Project ADAM Community Assistance Center, Incorporated, is a non-profit organization established in 1980.  The program was created by a group of ministers trained in the area of alcohol and drug prevention, early identification, intervention and referral by the Early Warning Project of the Northeast Georgia Community Mental Health/Mental Retardation Center. As a result of federal funding cuts and the subsequent removal of alcohol and drug services from the area, the group of ministers decided to fill the gap by creating Project ADAM to provide a combination of community education, direct services and family activities. Much of the success of Project ADAM has been due to the involvement and support of citizens and service agencies in the Northeast Georgia area. Our Medical Director is Dr. Ganiat Jaiyesinmi Ajayi, a psychiatry, addiction medicine, and addiction psychiatry doctor.
